Our Little Chunky Monkey...

I had my glucose test today. I was dreading it for days, I even had a nightmare about it last night.  I don't do well when I'm hungry (I could be on a snicker's commercial), and I don't do well with having my blood drawn so I thought combining the two would be an epic nightmare. I felt a bit woozy off and on from the blood and lack of food, but I survived!  I went well prepared with things to keep me from being bored, although the Cooking Light magazine probably wasn't a good choice.  Pictures of delicious food while hungry was pure self torture, and made those rumbles in my stomach even worse.  I should find out the results of the test in a couple days, so both my and Baby Freaney's fingers and toes are crossed that I pass!

We went to the ultra sound doctor this past Thursday and got to see Baby Freaney! At this point babies are practicing breathing so that when they're born their lungs are strong enough to take breathes. So we got to see him taking his practice breathes and his little body move up and down.  We also got a great view of the front of his face and we watched him blink and open his mouth!  Getting to see him do all those things made his arrival seem so real!  The doctor said he is a happy, healthy baby and maybe that has something to do with the fact that he's currently measuring at 3 pounds and 13 ounces. A whopping 13 ounces over what he should be.  I would be happy if I could be plump and it didn't matter!  Although someone needs to lay off the chow, because I'm not pushing out a 12 pound babe!

We traveled to Ohio this past weekend for my baby shower. My sister, and family did a wonderful job, and I had a great time. It's always nice to see people you don't get to see often.  Baby Freaney has some very generous family and is going to be a well dressed stud now!  Watch out ladies!  We ended up packing all of his clothes in a carry on and those tiny little outfits filled the whole thing!  I was seriously worried that if TSA opened either of our carry ons, clothes were going to fly all over the airport.

Since Kev refuses to hold a baby and knows only how to care for a furry child with four legs, we will be attending a baby basics class at the hospital this Saturday.  It's a 3 hour class that teaches you things like how to bathe a baby, change a diaper, and hold him.  All of which seem pretty important for Kev to know before someone makes their grand arrival!

We also are going to buckle down this weekend and get working on this babes room!  Being that we haven't done much, we have a quite a bit to do! Ill keep you posted with pictures once we get moving on it!

10 Weeks To Go!

So many things have happened in the Freaney household in the past week.  Where to even begin!

We went to the doctor today to get our regular check up.  The good news was baby Freaney's heartbeat is where it should be and my blood pressure was good!  The bad news was I failed the one hour glucose test and I have to go back and do the three hour test next week.  I was pretty upset, but I know I'm not the only one to fail the first test!  Fingers crossed that everything goes ok next week!

My wonderful boss threw me a shower on Sunday and it was far more than I could have ever asked for.  Everything was absolutely perfect, she went above and beyond.  I feel so lucky to have someone like her in my life, who thinks so fondly of me that she'd throw such an amazing party in my honor.  Kev and I were both overwhelmed with emotions at the level of generosity and kindness our friends and family showed us with their amazing, thoughtful gifts.  Baby Freaney is seriously one lucky babe, and will be coming into this world well loved.  Below is a link to see more pictures from the shower, my lovely friend Gina was kind enough to be the photographer for the day!

I've been growing increasing uncomfortable.  Pregnancy is not fun, I really think reptiles and birds have figured it out, laying eggs and all.  I wish I could lay an egg and give Kevin half the responsibility of helping incubating this babe of ours.  So I will now take this time to complain and get it out of my system.  My restless leg syndrome is still a nightly occurrence and no matter what I try or do to help alleviate the discomfort nothing seems to work.  No matter how tired I am my legs are ready to go run the Boston marathon (and at the rate they're twitching and moving I think we'd win.)  Ingestion has began to rear it's ugly head.  Fortunately it's not a nightly occurrence.  Unfortunately when I do have it, it's really bad acid reflux, to the point where I can't sleep I'm so uncomfortable (don't forget to add in that restless leg syndrome!!) Apparently, just like his father, Baby Freaney sits up very high and because of that the top part of my stomach is in so much pain.  If someone could send this child a memo to move his tush down to the spacious midsection of my uterus I'd be grateful.  My back is still throbbing by the end of the night, I'm thinking I should self prescribe more often massages.

I think I'm beginning to get that "nesting" feeling. At least I think that's what the constant feeling of needing to do something is. I can't sit down and watch TV without feeling like I should be doing approximately one million things.  (Exactly what those things are I'm not sure...)  Maybe it's nesting or maybe it's the fact that Kev and I really need to get our tushes moving on the nursery and getting this house prepped for this babe, who could be here in about two months!  Eekkkk.

The another piece of the furniture has arrived.  The big comfy chair came on Thursday, and it was promptly tested out by Baby Freaney's big brother.  I am happy to report Vedder gave it two paws up.  The dresser/changing table was supposed to be delivered but unfortunately they sent the wrong color to the delivery service.  It's turning into quite the nightmare, being that they don't expect another shipment of these dressers in until the end of May, making our estimated delivery time mid-June.  We are trying to plead our case to Restoration Hardware to do what they need to do to get this piece of furniture to us before June.

There is lots of excitement coming up in the world of babe!  We go to the ultrasound doctor on Thursday to see what position Baby Freaney is in and get an estimate on what he's currently weighing in at.  Then we're off to Ohio on Friday for the baby shower my beautiful sister is throwing me!!

And baby makes 4.

Well of course Vedder got a present!

Stopping to Smell the Roses

Sometimes in life, you have to just stop and smell the roses.  This is absolutely a point in my life that I feel like just slowing down, stopping and taking in the wonderful aroma of everything lovely thing I have in my life.   We were so blessed enough to get pregnant the first month we tried, with a healthy baby that is growing as we speak.  I know I can wine and moan about how much I dislike being pregnant (because I do dislike it...) but in between complaining about my restless leg syndrome at night and terrible indigestion, I am silently saying a thankful prayer for being able to be pregnant.

On the subject of being thankful, I was able to pick up my new car on Thursday and I am in love.  It has so much more room, definitely enough for the babe.  I haven't been able to figure out all the gadgets in the car but it sure is fun to drive!

I've been feeling pretty good for the most part.  I thought that my back would hurt a lot more than it does, but it usually doesn't start bothering me until the evening.  It's nothing a heating pad and an extra pillow behind my back can't fix.  I'm still sleeping at night, although my hips are starting to hurt me from sleeping on my side and when someone isn't happy about the side I'm sleeping on he sure lets me know with some swift kicks.

Babe is quite active.  He has seem to taken a personal preference to my right side of my uterus.  While I'm all for picking a side of the bed to claim, I would prefer he mix it up a bit.  I'd also prefer it if he moved his wiggling appendages away from my rib cage.  I find the kicks and punches a bit uncomfortable.

No chalkboard today.  Week 27 of being a human incubator.  13 weeks (give or take, but hopefully take) to go!

Hello?  Brother?  Can you hear me?  It's me, Vedder. When do you think you're coming out to play?

Mommy Mobile

We had our regular doctor's appointment today and everything checked out great.  Baby's heartbeat was where it needed to be and I was measuring on target with my due date.  Next time I go back in 4 weeks I get to do the dreaded glucose testing.  After that appointment we'll start going to the doctor's every two weeks instead of every four.  It really makes it seem like Baby Freaney's arrival is getting close!

I by no means am a complete novice when it comes to babies, after all, I did get my degree in early childhood education.  However, when faced with registering for a baby I was at a complete loss.  Even with a handy-dandy checklist of what baby will need, who knew that there would be approximately 387392 choices for each item.  It wasn't just swing vs. vibrating chair, after you decide vibrating chair, you have to pick out one of the 60 choices.  And if that wasn't bad enough, lets just add a husband with a trigger happy finger who, when I would turn my back, would have added 5 more toys or 6 more outfits.  What we thought would be a two hour project turned into a four hour endeavor, and was promptly followed by a nap when we finally got home.

It is with great sadness that I have to say, that my beloved little A4 must be traded in for a mommy mobile.  After our marathon of registering for Baby Freaney we realized that my car would most likely not fit a car seat in it, and after Kevin talked to a friend, our fears were confirmed.  So, the hunt for an SUV began.  I was did not make the task any easier, insisting that not only did the SUV need to be functional, but it also needed to be stylish.  So, after weeks of test driving and negotiating I am currently waiting for my new Q5 to arrive from Germany.  It should be here next week, completely loaded with all the bells and whistles.  I'm a pretty lucky gal to have such a hard working husband, who let me get this car!

I hope Baby Freaney likes this car, it'll be what he's driving in 16 years.

As much as I'm so happy that I have a healthy little boy growing, there is nothing exciting about watching my abdomen grow to monstrous proportions.

It is really amazing how fast my stomach is growing.  By the time I wear a t-shirt, throw it in the laundry and wash it, it fits completely different than the last time I wore it.  Kevin's t-shirt drawer has gone from his drawer, to our drawer.  Thankfully I have a sweet husband who doesn't mind that his clothes are being raided by his ever growing wife.

I've been feeling pretty good.  I'm not quite as quick on my feet as I was.  Poor Vedder often turns around and looks at me on walks, as if to say "Are you coming slow poke?"  But as long as I can waddle, I'll be out there walking with that pup.  Being that we have a three story townhouse, I have a feeling that in the near future these stairs, while keeping my tush in shape, will be come my worst enemy.  Thankfully I don't think Baby will learn curse words while in the womb.

Nowwww I understand why mom sleeps like this at night.

Starting to Pop!

The "three" of us meeting Mickey and Minnie for the first time.

It has be been decided that Kevin and I were highly robbed as children by never being taken to Disney.  It really is the most magical place on earth, and even though we aren't 8 years old anymore we sure acted like it while at Disney.  Maybe part of the magic was watching the happiness in all the faces of the children we saw, knowing that one day we'd be watching the same amazement and wonder on our little boy's face.  We had one of our favorite days together while at Disney.  We cannot wait to take Baby Freaney one day.

Of course had a wonderful time on the cruise, bad weather and all.  It's always great to spend time with family and make new memories!  It'll be that much more fun once we have our newest addition.

We crossed another thing off our to-do list today.  We ordered a chair for the nursery, all furniture has officially been purchased.  Vedder will be pleased to know that the chair we choose is not only very comfy (I have a feeling Baby will not be the only person sleeping in the chair...) but there is room for him when someone is sitting in the chair.  He sure is a snuggle bug and by all means, we can't leave him out!

Tomorrow we will finally set out to register for my baby showers.  So if any of you seasoned moms have any advice on what to get and not to get, by all means!  Please share!

I can finally understand what all my pregnant friends mean when they said that one day they woke up and popped.  I feel like in the matter of a few days I went from not looking too pregnant, to really looking pregnant.  There really is a baby in there!

Here are a few of our favorite pictures from our trip.

Maybe Baby Freaney will get a letter to go to Hogwarts?

It's so fluffyyyyyyy!

I think someone snuck into your bag Kev!

Waiting for fireworks at Epcot... 12 hours after we started our day.

Someone was happy we were home, and loves to share my body pillow.

Babymoon

Furniture, doctor, and packing!  Oh My!

Things have been a bit hectic today at the Freaney Casa.  We were super excited to have the first round of furniture be delivered for Baby Freaney's room!  After much consideration, we decided to go with Restoration Hardware's nursery furniture.  Not only did we fall in love with the antique feel, we also decided to invest in furniture that this babe will be taking to college with him.  His crib is a 3 in 1, it goes from crib, to toddler bed to a full size headboard.  We purchased the matching nightstand, dresser and a dresser topper (a piece that fits onto the dresser perfectly for a changing table, but will come off and be a normal dresser once we're past poopy diapers.) Today the crib and the nightstand arrived.  Unfortunately the dresser and topper are not scheduled to arrive until late May, fingers crossed for an early delivery (furniture, not babe!)

"Is my brother in there?  That's a nice crate he has."

Once the crib was set up, we had to hightail it to the doctor's office for our routine checkup.  This wasn't the fun doctor where we get to see baby.  We did hear baby's heart beat (152 beats per a minute, right on track) and I had my finger pricked to check my iron.  Being that I have a gag reflex when it comes to red meat, I'm low and had to be put on a prescription supplement.  Other than that, babe and I got a clean bill of health!

Baby's movements are beginning to be more noticeable, Kevin's even been able to feel a kick or two!  I thought at first that it was going to be really creepy to feel him move, but it's not in the slightest!  It's actually kind of fun.  I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune in a couple months from now when there is a much large babe in there.

Tomorrow Kev and I leave for our last vacation before babe!  We're flying into Orlando, where we'll spend tomorrow at Universal and hang out with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.  Valentine's Day will be spent in Disney World at the Magic Kingdom and finally on Friday we depart on a cruise to the Bahamas with Kevin's family.  We are super excited!

In the meantime, we hope everyone has a lovely Valentine's Day!

Half Baked

Happy 20 weeks to Baby Freaney!

I'm officially half way done with my pregnancy, so with a glass half full attitude, today put us on the downward part of the slope in this journey.  I know there are times that I feel like I've been pregnant for 7970 years, but for the most part time is flying by!!!  We still have lots to do to prepare for this babe of ours, so we'll enjoy and use every minute of these last 20 weeks!

We went to the doctor yesterday and saw Baby Freaney! The doctor said that everything was absolutely perfect with our babe.  He was very wiggly during our visit, grabbing his feet, snuggling his hands under his face, and kicking up a storm!  We don't get to see baby again until our 30 week appointment, but we'll keep going to our regular OBGYN for a check of his heart beat and to have my fundal height measured.

While I find it cool we can see so much of his face with this front view, I found it a bit weird too.  You can see on of his hands folded under his head.

Posing for the camera, what a little ham he is already!

Last weekend we hunkered down and painted the baby's room.  It was a rather large pain in the tush, but Kev really wanted to do this himself for his son.  The color turned out a bit darker than we would have wanted but we think with light furniture and a bright accent color in bedding and drapes, we'll make it appear lighter.

A sneak peak of baby's room!

Today we went furniture shopping, I think we'll make a final decision tomorrow and finally buy our favorite.  We're talking big decisions here people!  Another thing checked off of our ever growing list of things to do!

20 weeks and a growing bump!
As promised, a bump picture, which I don't particularly love taking and as you can tell by Kevin's stellar photography skills, he doesn't either.

When can my brother come out and play?
