Airplanes and Helicopters

I'm backkkkkkkkk...  Did you miss me?  Today is the perfect day to work on my blog, as I currently have no voice.  While Kevin may thoroughly enjoy me not being able to talk, I am finding it annoying.  Especially when you're a teacher and you're trying to stop a 3-year-old student from getting into mischief.  Anyway, here I am again.  It's been far too long since the last blog, I know this.  Just as I think that our lives are going to calm down and we're going to have a break in the craziness we always find some sort of fun to get into!

January and February zipped by, our weekends were jam packed and most of our weeks filled up with extra activities.  So, without further yapping here's what's been going on in January and February...

Landon continues to grow like a weed both physically and mentally.  The rate in which he is learning new words is just off the charts.  He's even begin to make two word sentences.  I know, I know,  every parent thinks their child is a genius, (cough cough, Harvard, I hope you're reading this and putting him on the list for admission now, full ride of course.) but being that I am a teacher I can say that this is not normal.  His vocabulary is very advanced even compared to many children 6 months older than him.  We absolutely love hearing new words coming out of his mouth... not to worry we've cleaned up our mouths so he won't be repeating those "fun" words.

Airplane.  Helicopter.  Two words that sum up Landon's newest obsession.  Yeah, we still love cars and trucks, but usually he spends his drive home from school looking out of the sunroof going "Bye bye airplane, bye bye helicopter."  Actually, most days, it's all he says in the car.  The good news for him, is that when the weather is nice we have a children's park that's right on the Dekalb airport (the second busiest airport in Georgia!) and it's about a 5 minute drive from our house.  He sits with his mouth agape as he watches airplanes come and go every few minutes.

The Goodbye to the Fish

We sadly had to put our goldfish, Clementine down.  Yes, it means exactly what you think it does.  The goldfish went to the big bowl in the sky.  The poor thing had been swimming upside down for weeks and it's belly was red.  The part about how the fish was flushed is the story...  My friend had come over to keep my company while Kev was out of town.  I decided it was time to flush the fish so Emily and I put the fella in the toilet.  Landon walked over to the toilet, said bye bye fish, slammed the lid down and walked over and flushed the toilet.  All this happened before we even knew what was going on.  I'm not sure to find this worrisome, or hilarious.  What I do know, is that it makes me nervous as to what will be flushed down the toilet in the future...

A few weeks ago Landon has some visitors drive up from Florida to visit!  Kevin's Grandma, Aunt Thelma, Aunt Moe and Aunt Peg made the trek to see this special boy.  He absolutely ate up all the attention they gave him and of course used his cuteness to his advantage and by the end of the weekend had a new book, a new jelly cat and a toy airplane (that sings the worlds most annoying song.)  He was a complete ham the entire weekend and had everyone in stitches from the time he woke up to the time he went to bed.  We love when we have visitors here, it's always so special because the time we have isn't so cluttered with places we have to be and trying to fit in seeing everyone!

After dinner with all the family, a random parade went by for Mardi Gras!  Landon LOVED all the beads.

Grandma and Aunt Moe putting Landon down for bed.

Weeeeeeeee.  Of course we took them to the airplane park!

                                                     Happy happy 33rd birthday Daddy!
We celebrated Kev's 33rd birthday in January!  Kev wanted to eat at Kevin Rathbun's steak house for dinner and then finish out the night with dessert and after dinner drinks.  We're slowly starting to learn birthdays after your 20's just aren't nearly as much fun!

Landon working very hard on Daddy's birthday card.

Someone thinks his brother's dog crate is hilarious.

Does Magic Mike XXL need any extras?

His Valentine's Day Date.

Landon clearly knows he has all the control here with the food.

Saying "Cheese!"

This picture made us realize it's time to buy the poor fella a pillow.  Although this super sized Jellycat sure is comfy!

Markers, not just for paper.  Also great on skin!

Helping mommy make banana bread.

Doesn't everyone cook with a hat and Jellycats?

The hat began his obsession with hats.

What?  We're out of strawberries?

Sitting in his big boy chair, although he doesn't love it just yet.

Why wouldn't it be hilarious to wear a dog bed on my head?

A little puppy/Landon adventure to Lowes.

Ladies man, clearly.

And now for Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb...
A little bedtime snuggles of all 3 of my children.

Spooning.

Yup, that would be the toilet paper from the half bath all the way to the living room.

Brotherly love.

Nothing like a hot fire on a cold winter day.

I love this picture!  They made a little heart :)

New favorite "hiding" place.

Oh, is this seat for me?

Holy Cannoli!

Dog... Check
Toddler... Check
Puppy... Check
Our Sanity... We're still waiting to check that box.

Back in November as Kevin had mentioned in his guest blog, we decided to get a puppy.  After some health issues with the original puppy (much to our great sadness) we had to choose a different one.  He is obviously, as many of you have seen, still a golden doodle, however my dreams of having another female in the house were shattered.  Plus side is, I still remain the queen of this house.

How is it going you ask?  With a toddler AND a potty training, teething puppy?  Crazy.

HOWEVER it's been good for everyone in this family.

Landon just adores the puppy and because the puppy doesn't know any different, he adores Landon, rough petting and all.  We even think that because Cannoli is so laid back with Landon and wants his attention it's rubbed off on Vedder and he's been more easy going with Landon.

Of everyone in the house though, Vedder is the one that is the happiest with the new addition.  A few months before Cannoli came home Kev and I had some concerns about Vedder.  He didn't seem to be his usually spunky self, his tail was down a lot, there was a lot of mopping around the house and no matter what we did he couldn't seem to shake this funk.  After a few days of uncertainty, V decided that he liked his new brother and has completely perked back up.  His tail is always wagging, he initiates play, he lets his brother snuggle him.  It's really been wonderful for him.

We're almost house broken, which after a month of potty training is a huge weight off of our shoulders.  It's not easy being home alone with an awake toddler and a pup that needs to go out every 30 minutes but we made it work and thankfully we're almost basking in the light at the end of the tunnel.

Cannoli has taught the two of us one important lesson in parenting.  Every child is not the same.  Here we are, thinking we know exactly what we're doing when it comes to raising another dog.  However, of course they're not the same!  They're two entirely different dogs, so we were left scratching our heads having NO idea what to do.  It's definitely opened our eyes to what it'll be like one day when we have another baby.

He's no doubt been a great addition to the family!  We're so lucky to have this goofy, easy going, clumsy pup.

Cannoli's first day home!

Brotherly love.

A little polar bear

First week at home together.

Seriously, this face is so darn cute.

Can you spot the jelly cat vs. the puppy?  The first few days Cannoli was home he kept calling him a jelly cat!

We knew they actually liked each other the first time Vedder let Cannoli snuggle him.

"Life at this house is just too much."

Best.  Friends.

"You've got an ear infection brother?  Don't worry I'll snuggle you."

Two peas in a pod.

Growing like a weed, probably because all he does is eat.

Big boy!

All my boys snuggled up in bed.

Snuggle buddies.
