50 Shades of Grey

We had our own version of 50 shades here at the Freaney household, and no we're not talking about how baby was made...
I always knew I wanted to paint the nursery grey and depending on the sex of the baby we would either do blue or yellow accents.  I didn't realize finding the right shade of grey would be as difficult as it was!  After several trips to Lowes and Sherwin Williams, and five paint samples splattered on the wall later, we found the perfect grey.  The winner:  Wet pavement.  We're going to attempt to paint the room this weekend.  It all depends on how long it takes to tape all the molding in that room.

The five contenders.

The big winner!

Another project was successfully completed.  The rug runner was installed on the stairs.  We no longer have to worry about falling down the stairs when we have socks on, or freeze and listen to make sure the dog hasn't fallen down the stairs when he's going up and down.  It's amazing how this baby has lit a fire under our tushes and has catapulted us into feverishly finishing projects we've talked about doing for ages.

As you can see, someone is already enjoying the stairs.

We also celebrated Kev's 31st birthday (old man!!) this past week.  I have to get my sentimental bit out... it was incredibly heartwarming to celebrate Kev being born 31 years ago, here in Atlanta at Northside Hospital.  The very same hospital that in five months from now, we will have our first son.  Since Baby will be born during baseball season he had to give his dad some Indian onesies so he'll be stylish while watching the games.

It was way too crazy this week to take a bump picture.  At this point I'm a day away from 19 weeks, so I promise there will be one for 19 weeks on my next blog!  I have been feeling great lately during the day.  It's been the sleeping aspect that I'm beginning to struggle with.  As much as I love snuggle time with my furry son, between him and my ever growing baby bump it's been hard to find a comfortable position.  I broke down and bought a body pillow on Tuesday.  I think last night Vedder and I found a position to sleep in, which everyone one wins.  Lets hope it continues.

We go back to the doctor next Friday, so we'll have some more ultrasound pictures then!  It'll be an exciting blog, a painted nursery, ultrasound pictures and a bump picture!  :)

Preparing for Baby

I had yet another doctor's appointment yesterday.  Our OBGYN doesn't have an ultrasound machine that wasn't from when the dinosaurs were born so we have doctor's appointments twice a month.  Once with the practice that will deliver baby and once at the place with the amazing ultrasound machines.  At this appointment we just listened to the heart beat (150 bpm, right where it should be) and I had to make a few decisions on when we go to the hospital for delivery.  This was the first appointment Kevin couldn't make so I had to get some fun out of it and I told him I told the doctor I was going for a natural childbirth, in the water and the baby was to not be circumcised.  He didn't believe anything except the circumcision.

We've been getting a lot of questions from people about the name of the baby... yes, we have a name picked out and no, we aren't telling you.  Here is our reasoning:  We have already told you the sex.  There is no element of surprise when baby is born.  Now, when we call you you'll be excited to know the name.  Secondly, as much as we love you all, we don't need to know or hear your opinions.  I don't want to know that our baby's name was the same as your exboyfriend who cheated on you and broke your heart and you'll never recover.  I already have enough name associations of my own which as already limited our name selection that I don't need others.  :)

The old furniture in the nursery has successfully been put up on craigslist and we have sold a few items.  Now if we could just get rid of the rest...  The desk and the computer are completely downstairs and as much as I thought I would hate it being moved into the living room we both are loving it!  The rug runner for the hardwood stairs has been ordered and is being installed next Thursday.  I cleaned out the closet in the nursery and I can buy baby things and not feel guilty because I have no where to put them!

I have to say, it does seem weird to have these tiny little outfits hanging in the closet!  There will be a little baby, that belongs to us (Lord help that poor child), in them before we know it!

Still looking like I love to over indulged at meals.  Can I just get a cute little bump already so I look pregnant and not fat?  I am happy to report I can still wear all my jeans with the help of belly bands, and I do have one pair that even still button!

Vedder was feeling a little left out in the blog.  He's trying to get all the sleep he can in the next five months, when his world will be turned upside down!  (But still loved as much as he is now.) He also has the "rainy day blues" because apparently we're in monsoon season here.

Future Model

According to our doctor, our baby could currently be a model.  We are a bit biased, but we can see this as the beginning of a bright modeling future, so when you see Baby Freaney on a giant billboard in Times Square we'll be obligated to say we told you so...

Today's doctor's appointment went well.  The baby cooperated so we were able to get great pictures.  Dr. Stone said everything looks healthy and he wanted to keep baby and I in the office so he could show other people how ultrasounds should look.  Watch out David Beckham!

We were also able to confirm that it is 100% a boy.  Kevin can FINALLY get excited that he's getting the little boy he wanted.

Here are some of the other great pictures we got today!

Baby Foot

A nice  well toned leg

He's already flexing his muscles for the ladies.

We are slowly tackling projects around the house in preparation for baby, moving the current furniture out of the nursery, cleaning out that closet, getting a rug runner for the hardwood stairs (Vedder will be grateful for that too!) Once all the projects are tackled we'll start the fun part of painting and ordering furniture!

16 weeks and counting!  I still feel like I just look like I ate too many burritos!

15 Weeks

Living in Atlanta certainly has it's perks, but time's like this, when we're at such an exciting time in our lives living 700 miles away makes it difficult.  It's hard to update every single person on the comings and goings of our doctors appointments, bump pictures, and how things in the Freaney household are progressing with baby!  So here we are, with a blog that I can post on when we have something new to share!

We've been to 4 doctors appointments since we've found out we are pregnant and everything is progressing as it should.  We have a very healthy baby!  We look forward to each visit and can't wait to see that babe up on the ultrasound screen or hear it's little heart beat a mile a minute.  It's really crazy to think another human is growing inside of you!

Baby is due June 20th/21st.  I am currently 15 weeks pregnant and will be 16 weeks this Friday (January 4th)

This was the last ultrasound we had, at 12 weeks.  The doctor is 90% sure that baby Freaney is a BOY!  His direct quote on the matter was "He keeps flashing his wiener!"  Let's hope the flashing of the body parts end after birth.

I have been feeling pretty good since the end of my first trimester.  I am slowly learning that I can't do as much as I used to without feeling awful the next day.  Long gone are the days of doing 10,000 things in a day!

My cravings have since disappeared.  No more dinners of kraft mac and cheese (the shapes of course) or trips out to Fox Brothers for ribs.  I can pretty much eat like a normal person.  I still avoid fried foods, they don't sit well with me, which is fine.  It's been helping me stay healthy, and not pack on the pounds.

Our next doctor appointment is on January 8th, for our 16 week screening.  I'll be sure to post an update after the appointment with pictures to follow!
